We only build things we needed ourselves.
Every product starts as something that annoyed us — not as a market opportunity someone described in a deck. If we wouldn't miss it, we don't ship it.
Tavue Labs is a London product studio. We notice things that are needlessly tedious, then build the tool we wished existed. Our first is Tavue — understand any menu, anywhere.
We keep a running list of things we've caught ourselves being annoyed by. Most of them stay on the list. A few become products. Anything that gets built has to clear all four of these first.
Not a market we read about. A thing that made one of us mutter in an actual week. If nobody here has felt it, we have no business judging whether the fix is any good.
A one-off irritation is a story. Something that happens every trip, every month, every shop is a problem. We only build for the second kind.
Plenty of tedious things already have tools. If the tool costs more attention than the tedium it removes, that counts as unsolved. If it doesn't, we pass and say so.
The end state has to be you not thinking about it. If the honest answer is a dashboard you'd have to check, it isn't ours to build.
Point your camera at any menu and understand every dish — translated, explained, and shown.
Every product starts as something that annoyed us — not as a market opportunity someone described in a deck. If we wouldn't miss it, we don't ship it.
A tool that does a single tedious thing completely beats one that does five things halfway. We'd rather cut scope than ship something you have to work around.
The best software is the software you stop noticing. No onboarding tours, nothing to learn. Point it at the problem, get on with your day.
We're small, and we like it that way — but we're always open to people who've noticed something tedious and can't stop thinking about it. Engineers, designers, or anyone with a good idea and the stubbornness to build it.
